MCHA 2011 Breeders Incentive Program Limited Aged Event
Pays Out $20,000
It was another successful year for the MCHA Breeder’s Incentive Program Limited Aged Event which was held in conjunction with the Fall Festival of Cutting in Fergus Falls, MN, October 7th – 9th. Considering that many events this year have seen a decrease in entries, it was encouraging to have the numbers stay relatively strong. The event is limited to offspring of enrolled stallions or mares so that is also a determining factor of how many entries are possible. There were two go rounds each paying 30% and the finals paid 40% of the purse. The classes with less than ten entries had a pencil finals.
The first go round of the 14 horse 3 Year Old Open was won by Oh Cay Floyd, sired by Oh Cay Quixote, and ridden by Tracy Barton for owner Jeff Pressler, West Alexandria, OH. In the second go round it was Carlos Pacheco that laid out the winning run on Smoken Disco Tucker, sired by Little Disco Tucker, and owned by Larry Marshall, Avon, IL. After a little trouble in the second go that left him out of the money, Oh Cay Floyd stepped it up to win the finals and raise his earnings to $1,322.28. NRR Cats Spirit, sired by Black Catamount Rey, and ridden by Tracy Barton for North Ridge Ranch, claimed Reserve Champion and collected $1,243.57. Coming in third was McLuvin, sired by CD Olena, (eligible by a mare enrollment) ridden and owned by Paul Troyer, Laurel, NE. They earned $1,306.53.
There were 10 entries in the 3 Year Old Non Pro. The first go round was won by the Open winner, Oh Cay Floyd ridden by his owner, Jeff Pressler. Winning the second go round and the finals was Movin By Whitch, sired by Peptos Blueprint and ridden by owner, Brad Vance, Lipan, TX. Their total earnings were $1,529.41. The Reserve Champion was Oh Cay Floyd earning $1,329.48. Once again, coming in third was McLuvin to earn a very respectful $1,169.54
The $2,500 Added 4 Year Old Derby had 7 Open entries and 7 Non Pro entries with the money pro-rated between the two divisions. Little Disco Cat, sired by Little Disco Tucker and ridden by Seth Kirchner for owners Jim and Joyce Healy, Hillsdale, IL won both go rounds and the pencil finals. The win was worth $1,458.66. Little Disco Cat was last year’s 3 Year Old Open Futurity Champion. The Reserve Champion was Lido Sandy Girl, sired by Little Lido and ridden by Carlos Pacheco for owner Larry Marshall. They earned $875.20.
There was no “sneakin around” as SneakinJack, sired by Sneakin Lena and ridden by owner Kathleen Strain won both go rounds of the 4 Year Old Non Pro Derby decisively. They collected a nice payout of $1,458.66. Coming in Reserve was TR Paid to Dual, sired by Dual Lena San and ridden by owner Gary Hansen, Duluth, MN and earning $787.68
Enough 5/6 year olds came back this year so there could be a class. The $1,000 Added 5/6 Year Old Classic had 3 entries in the Open division and 5 entries in the Non Pro. Winning the Open division was Lil Miss Sneakin, sired by Sneakin Lena, ridden by Kyle Krause and owned by Larry and Michele Thompson, Belgrade, MN. They collected $871.66. The 5/6 Year Old Classic Non Pro Champion was Whose Izzy, sired by SmokinManzana and ridden by owner Barb Halligan. The win was worth $983.00.

Do you own a stallion and/or mare and reside in Area 6 or
12? Then consider enrolling your horse in the MCHA Incentive
Program. The MCHA Incentive Limited Aged Events have paid
out over $20,000 each year!
All offspring sired by an enrolled horse are immediately
eligible to enter the Futurity, Derby, and 5/6 year old Classic.
Each horse must be enrolled annually.
This
futurity and limited age event is only for offspring of stallions
and
mares
enrolled
in the
MCHA
Incentive Program. The stallion/mare owner must reside in
Area 6 or 12 to enroll your stallion or mare. Once enrolled,
all offspring are eligible to enter the Fall Festival futurity,
derby, and 5/6 year old Classic. Mare owners, if you reside
in Area 6 or 12, you can enroll a mare that is bred to ANY
stallion. These limited aged events have paid out over $20,000
each year!! The Show Entry blank can be downloaded here -- forms are due October 1st.
